So, I know nothing about bikes, but ended up with this project for around free-fifty, so I coulnd't turn it down.
It's (used to be) a '03 Suzuki SV1000S. It's been laid down several times and rattle-canned in a sparkly black color ... everywhere.
Plans are to get it in running order via eBay, go cafe style on the front with dual round lights and apply a tasteful Laguna Seca Blue and titanium gray paint scheme. Then, likely less than 200 miles later, lay it down and destroy most of it.
So far ...
Front fairings are obviously destroyed
No key
Horrible paint everywhere
Needs battery
Radiator busted (might need fans too)
Clutch reservoir destroyed, and master cylinder has been open to elements for a while
Front brake line fitting damaged/leaking
Clutch handle tweaked
Hacked front lighting harness
Rodent nest in rear (wires weren't chewed, suprisingly!)
Starter woulnd't engage
Left side muffler damaged
Shift lever broken
Rear turn signals missing after fender removal
Chain rusted
I'm sure more will come later. But, it should be a fun project.
I've spent a little time on it and got power to it via stealing the battery from the Beetle and clever utilization of jumper cables. I've also started some of the mechanical work and hit up eBay for some early "get it running" items.

Those are very realistic goals. Good to see someone actually expecting what is going to happen.
Sir_Stig: and toxic masculinity ruins the party again.

Thanks.
Again, I have 0 experience on a bike, and this one should be no slouch with a 1000cc engine and stock 11.4-ish 1/4 mile time. The plan is to take it super easy, take the MSF course and be as cautious as possible. But, I also know that laying it over is a "when" not "if" scenario.
I used to daily a 400 whp Evo and drove it like a grandma on the streets, so that's the plan with this too. But I know I'll get more comfortable and ride it spiritedly at some point, and I'll reach my limit.

Its getting to your limit that causes you to end up on your side! Just like when I laid my dirt bike over on my leg with the exhaust melting my pants to my leg.
Have fun learning!

Sv1000s are incredible bikes. They sound like the angels singing, and are super torquey. Enjoy.

Good to know. I'm looking to do the basic mods while I've got it apart. Someone already removed the airbox snorkel, so I'm going to lift the tank some to get more air there. Also have stuff on the way for the TRE mod and am blocking the PAIR system to prevent issues once the exhaust is swapped out. I'm hoping the rebuild will go well and I'll be able to have some fun with it.

Hey, if you ever have questions, I MAY be able to help. I ride an 07 sv1000. I also had an 02 sv650 for a couple years.

By the way, there are two great forums with this bike, svrider.com and sv-portal.com. Much better than your average forum.

Yeah, I've noticed. I've been on sv-portal a bit. I got the info on the PAIR removal and TRE delete, as well as lots of other things there. Seems like a good group of guys.
